We are surprised and excited to announce the newest member of the Saake family, anticipated to join the outside world around Valentine's Day. Day 12 hCG was 90, day 14 was 270, day 17 was 1,197. I am exhausted and just nauseous enough to feel convinced that my hormones are doing well, but not to a debilitating state of morning sickness yet. I am also having amazing mood swings unlike any I ever remember. I won't have an ultrasound until the 30th, and am praying that we will see a healthy heartbeat (or two - I've prayed for twins since I was three years old ) then.
With past experience in mind, I am trying to just take each day as it comes, rejoicing in every moment we are given with this baby. If all goes well and I continue into second trimester, I am thankful for the time to prepare ahead for bedrest if needed. Perhaps this will be my "easy" pregnancy (?) and all the planning ahead will just mean a super-organized house when baby comes. But at least I hope not to be caught off guard like I was with Ruth if the next eight months are difficult. Stay tuned for updates.
