After actively pursuing this since last May, I finally was blessed to see Dr. Peterson of the Whittemore/Peterson Institute today! It was kind of like meeting a celebrity as I've had read this man's name ever since the earliest reading I did on CFS clear back when I was first diagnosed 17 years ago.
I'm still on information overload and recovering from the 29 vials (that's not a typo!) of blood I had drawn, so I haven't sorted through my thoughts enough to share too specifically yet. But I feel such hope about overcoming this illness for the first time in years. I was highly impressed by Dr. Peterson. He spent more than an hour talking with me, only leaving the room twice to answer phone calls from international patience. There is much testing ahead, but we are finally on the road. My great appreciate goes out to Darren and Judy and all of the WPI for making this appointment possible today.
I'll be headed back up to Incline on Friday morning for more testing, then will have some additional scans down here in Reno in the coming weeks. It's a little overwhelming, but also feels wonderful to be actively doing something to fight this villian!
It was such a blessing to have my parents here in town to watch our kids for the 4 1/2 hours I was gone this morning. I walked in the door and was enthusiastically greated by Big J who announced that I "look so much better than when you had that illness, Mom!" Don't think he quite understands the whole process yet, but he says I've been smiling a lot more today ever since I came home too.
Rick is continuing to improve. His arm's pretty sore now that he's started a new round of PT excercizes, but the doctor is very pleased with his progress and says he's 2-3 weeks ahead of scheduled recovery! We are also excited about the new job he stars next week, another answer to prayer!
Little J seems to be fighting his 2-year molars, so he's a bit cranky, but tylenol makes a huge difference. R's beside herself with excitement that Valentine's Day is coming this week! ;)
